Legislation Drafting and Government Relations

Solcargo is a recognized leader in drafting proposed legislation, rules and regulations, as well as representing clients before political decision-makers, at both the national and sub-national level. Clients have included different political parties, government agencies and interest groups, including the recently enacted Federal Waste Law, the National Water Law, the Municipal Organic Law of the State of Puebla, a state Financial Code, and automotive emissions testing rules, among others. We are also regularly approached by various agencies that request our informal opinion and commentary on proposed bills before Congress and executive rulemaking regulatory actions, such as Official Mexican Standards (NOMs.)

These activities touch on a diverse range of substantive areas of the law, and therefore the Firm’s government relations team works together with Solcargo attorneys from our environmental, energy, government procurement, corporate, and tax practice areas, among others.

Having represented interests before a wide range of authorities, both federal and state, we have gained a solid reputation with government bodies, enabling us to maintain relationships with key officials and groups and thereby effectively represent the interests of our clients.

In maintaining these relationships with government authorities, our attorneys adhere strictly to our Firm’s Ethics Code. Our attorneys take periodic written exams and training sessions on ethics, which ensures a depth of understanding and the harmonious application of these principles.
