Roberto Vélez is partner of the Firm and heads its Criminal Law practice area from the Mexico City Office.

Mr. Vélez’s practice focuses on criminal proceedings regarding medical, environmental and “white collar” issues.

Before joining the firm, Mr. Vélez worked for Mexican Government in Penitentiary system; he also served as legal advisor for the Administrative Commission and Prosecution of Justice for the Legislative Assembly of the Federal District’s Second Legislature. Before that, Mr. Vélez served as legal advisor for the Sub-Secretary of Public Security for the Federal District. He received his Law Degree from National Autonomous University of México (UNAM) in 1995, he also holds a Diploma in Penitentiary Law from the Division of Continuous Education of UNAM and a Specialist degree (post-graduate studies) in Criminal Law from UNAM.

Mr. Vélez a professor of the Faculty of Law of UNAM, he teaches both criminal and non-criminal related subjects. He is Member of the Association of Criminal Law Professors for the Faculty of Law of UNAM and he is also a member of the Association of Philosophy of Law Professors for the Faculty of Law of UNAM.

He is fluent in English and Spanish.
